The Scenario
In Feb 03, a Lessor had to repossess a B757-200, with RB211 engines and wanted to re-lease it straight away to a different airline. However, the airline did not initially want to accept the engines due to a concern about the engine records, as the lessee records showed HPT disk required AD 2001-23-02 inspection, and that consequently the engine needed to be shop visited before they would accept it.
The lessor decided to bring in expert help and asked TES to review the engine documentation.
TES’ Service
TES conducted a full review of the documentation, checking the actual AD status of this disk, and the back to birth trace and AD / SB status for all the engines components.
As part of this review, we went through the Lessee’s records in detail. This revealed that the inspection had been carried out previously, a finding that was subsequently confirmed by Rolls Royce to establish the engine was indeed serviceable.
